Judy Hazen Flip.jpg (65390 bytes)I began my visual art studies in 1957 at the Ohio State University with a drawing class, and eventually gravitated, in the early 60's to New York City and the Art Students League where I studied figure painting and drawing.  That was only the beginning of the long road to finding a way to achieve some part of what I consider a valid and worthwhile result -- a beautiful painting or sculpture.

In 1973 I went back to OSU for graduate art education studies and from there to teaching art in the public schools for fifteen years.  Besides OSU and the Art Students League, there have been many art workshops and classes each year right up to the present that have contributed to my learning what I can to improve my skills.

For me, the whole point of my artistic endeavors is to make something beautiful, not to make a political or social statement.  Again, for me, art is about the beauty found in the human form and in nature, whether it be in a breathtaking landscape or a single leaf of lettuce.  It is my hope that my art work reflects, in some small way, that particular belief.
