Kim Head Shot.jpg (43573 bytes)Kim DeKay received her BFA from the Ohio State University in 1998, and went on to get her K-12 Teaching Certification in the Visual Arts.  She is currently in her fifth year as a High School Art Teacher for Bloom-Carroll Local Schools.  Kim received the WLOH Teacher of the Year award in 2003.  She also currently teaches adult and children classes at the Decorative Arts Center in Lancaster, OH, and is working toward an MA in Art Education at the Ohio State University.

Although Kim has a Fine Arts degree with a drawing and painting specialization, she has evolved into a ceramic artist who does painting on the side.  Her work is based on emotion and color, and although her work is mainly of the three-dimensional versus two-dimensional persuasion, she is greatly influenced by the Russian painter, Wassily Kandinsky, whose most popular works were born from “internal necessity” and spirituality as well as “the secret powers of color”.  Her artwork is made to serve as an extension of her internal necessity and spirituality, and to awaken the inner voice in others.

Kim resides with her husband Chris in Baltimore, Ohio.
