An excellent day out of doors - the weather was cool, but beautiful and sunny.

Rock Mill 2.jpg (27104 bytes)The Paint Out, co-sponsored by Monarch Gallery and the Fairfield County Historical Parks Commission, was open to artists from throughout central Ohio .  An event in which artists work out of doors is known as plein-air painting.  The artists gathered on Saturday used oil, watercolor, and/or acrylic paints, as well as drawing and photography to record their images based on direct observation.  Each artist provided seating and art materials to suit their own needs.  Beginning at 10:00 AM , they stayed until late afternoon watching and recording the changing light situations.  By 6 PM several of the participants gathered once again at Monarch Gallery, for an informal critique of their creations.

On June 2 Monarch Gallery hosted the opening of their newest art exhibit, The June Blues.
